How to activate every USB 2.0 and USB3.0 rear case ports on " GA-z77x-up4 th" and "GA-z77x-up5 th"

So, finally figured out how to activate all the USB2.0 as well as 3.0 ports on 7 series motherboard
z77x-up4 th. Other than HDMI audio, the activation of all usb ports was the only glitch on the up4
motherboard I had yet to resolve.
Only took me 10 months to solve this lol.

Step by Step directions to activate all USB2/3 Ports:

The GA-Z77x-UD3H mobo uses the same VIA USB chip as the z77x-UP4 and UP5 th.
You can find the kext patch for the ud3h mobo on www.osx86.net.

"GenericUSBXHCI USB 3.0" this link will take you to the kext file, however to download it you
do need to register a user profile with the website, just like every other hackintosh forum.
Props to alexlov for uploading the file.

Just download.....unzip..... install kext file (Kextwizard is my pref) and then restart your system.

                                                                      All Done.

So to summarize:
Yes this fix activates the USB2.0 along with USB3.0 ports. and
Yes with this patch all USB3.0's will be backwards compatible to USB2.0
I have the up4 but this should work for the up5 as well.
If you apply this method to a z77x-up5 modo please leave a comment to confirm up5 success.

  1. Hi Greg,

Is there any chance you could get in contact with me to give a run-down on what's needed for the UP4 TH Hackintosh build to function?

I don't need a specific guide, just the necessary options to make the build work with a GTX670 (rest is typical, UP4 TH, 3770K, 32GB, 4x FW).

    Thank you in advance..!!

    1. This build is pretty standard. The unibeast + multibeast method from tonymac is best. Also apply IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector in multibeast to fix the boot0: GPS error your going to get on the first boot.

    1. Totally, good call. i assume u mean regress from mavericks (correct me if wrong) to mountain lion. This usb activation Kext patch actually originates from the GA-z77x-UD3H.The z77x-up4-th, z77x-up5-th, and your motherboard all uses the same VIA USB chip. Thus the straight transfer of the UD3H's kext will work to achieve full function. This fix is proven when the kext is introduced in anything 10.6 to 10.8.5.
As with most hackintosh fixes, all bets are off when it comes to transitivity of a fix from one OS X gen to another. But especially going into Mav's. (Now its time I go on a rant about Apples recent short comings)

**In my opinion the mavericks system barely offers sufficient improvement or distinction to justify separation from the 10.8 OS X generation. This system has hardly a handful of improvements over mountain lion. It is clear from the multitude of cosmetic alterations and superficial decorations that the focus of this release was not to improve the OS X system but to create the illusion that the progression and continuing steady development of Apples intellectual properties has been continuing at close to the same pace as it did when Steve Jobs was still alive and part of the company.**
Ok now i feel better. lol

Anyways, glad to hear your all up and running:)
So was that the last bug in ur UD3H? Is your hackintosh now 100% operational?

  3. God bless you, Greg. The USB 3.0 external drive started to work on 3.0 bus. I lost all hope and used it for several months as USB 2.0 drive. Your patch worked for me. I'm on GA-Z77x-UD5H. Than you.
